I monitor my children\u2019s social media activities regularly and while doing so, I came across slang<\/a> they use in their everyday life. It was so complicated that I had to learn them to keep up with the continually evolving trends. And then I saw Instagram abbreviations, Snapchat acronyms, and TikTok acronyms, and I was completely lost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It felt like learning a new language just to understand what they were saying. But I realized that staying informed is the only way to connect with them and ensure their safety online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found out that most are code words for inappropriate and disrespectful conversations. So, I created this social media abbreviation list to help my fellow parents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most parents believe that overseeing children\u2019s online activity directly intrudes on their personal lives. However, that is not the case. As per a report, teens aged 18-19 were targeted more via social media than other methods. The percentage was 47%<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the increase in online scams, eluding yourself from your children\u2019s online activities is imprudent. However, if you are unfamiliar with the new coded language, all the discussion is a moot point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A study showed that social media slang<\/a> contains 28% of social media abbreviations and acronyms, more than any other type. So, if you monitor teens without knowing acronyms, you may not understand what they are discussing. So, let’s dive and see what the list has for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  How Did I Find All Social Media Abbreviations in the List?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                  As a parent, keeping tabs on my kids’ online activities was initially challenging. They\u2019d quickly stop using their phones whenever I entered the room, which honestly made me a bit SUS (suspicious).
