Geo-fencing is also available, allowing users to mark digital boundaries and get alerts when those zones are crossed. 

That said, setting up these zones isn’t as intuitive as it could be; the interface doesn’t clearly guide you through the process, and it took some trial and error to figure out how to place and adjust the virtual boundaries. 

During testing, GPS updates were reasonably accurate, though not exactly real-time. It refreshed at intervals. We also found that geo-fencing alerts weren’t always instant; sometimes they came in with a delay. Still, as a location monitoring tool, it performs well once everything is configured properly.

Call Logs & Recording

TheWiSpy provides access to detailed call history, showing contact names (when available), phone numbers, timestamps, durations, and the type of each call (incoming, outgoing, or missed). All of this is accessible from the main dashboard and typically syncs quickly after each call.

In addition to call logs, the app also supports call recording. However, the interface for playback is a bit ambiguous; there’s no clear labeling or guidance, and some recordings show up with no duration or content, making it hard to tell if the audio is actually available. Once recordings are functional, playback works, but locating and verifying them can be a slightly confusing process for first-time users.

Despite the interface quirks, the inclusion of call recording adds an extra layer of insight for parents seeking a fuller picture of phone conversations. During our testing, however, the audio quality wasn’t always consistent; some recordings lagged, and certain parts were unclear due to occasional distortions or muffled sounds. While the feature technically works, don’t expect studio-level clarity, especially in noisier environments or when the call is on speaker. 

Screen Monitoring 

TheWiSpy’s screen monitoring feature offers a combination of periodic screenshots and recorded screen videos to provide more context than simple image captures alone. Instead of live streaming, the app quietly collects visual snippets and screen recordings from the target device, which are then uploaded to the dashboard for review.

In our testing, both screenshots and screen videos arrived with reasonable clarity. The screenshots captured common app usage like messaging, browsing, and social media scrolling, while the screen recordings gave a fuller sense of user behavior over time. 

That said, upload times varied, especially during weaker internet connections. Moreover, the app allowed us to send a recording command from the dashboard. However, the duration options were limited to 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes only. 

Chat Monitoring

TheWiSpy’s chat monitoring feature supports a decent range of messaging platforms, nine in total. These include popular ones like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Viber, IMO, and others. It also tracks SIM-based chats, capturing traditional text messages and organizing them in a conversational layout that’s easy to read and follow.

That said, Instagram is notably missing from the list, a surprising gap given its popularity among teens. During testing, we also noticed that syncing wasn’t always real-time. Some conversations took a while to show up on the dashboard, and occasionally, a specific app’s chat feed would fail to load entirely, requiring a refresh or retry. 

Media attachments were hit or miss as well; some came through clearly, while others didn’t appear at all. Despite these limitations, TheWiSpy’s chat tracking remains useful for monitoring general conversations. 

Keyword Alerts

TheWiSpy application allows users to create a custom list of up to 100 flagged keywords or phrases, anything from risky slang to specific names or topics. While that’s a decent range, it’s worth noting that many competing apps offer unlimited keyword entries, so the cap could feel limiting to some users.

One nice touch is the color-coding system, which lets you assign each keyword to one of 10 preset color categories. Unfortunately, the palette includes less intuitive names like saddle brown, dark red, and dark olive green, which aren’t always easy for everyone to visually distinguish or remember.

In terms of functionality, alerts were accurate but not always timely during our testing. We often experienced delays between the keyword being triggered and the alert showing up on the dashboard. 

Another limitation is that alerts don’t display which app the keyword came from. You’re shown the flagged phrase, but not the platform it appeared on, which can slow down response time when scanning through multiple entries.

Application Activity

TheWiSpy’s app activity tracker logs every app launched on the device, along with timestamps, usage duration. It even includes the package name of each app, useful for identifying lesser-known or disguised programs. The dashboard layout is clean and easy to scan, and in our testing, the remote functions worked as intended. 

What sets it apart from basic trackers is that it allows you to uninstall, block, or unblock apps remotely from the target device via the dashboard.

That said, when there’s a new app on the target device, you won’t know it instantly, as it takes time for TheWiSpy to sync it. Still, as far as app oversight goes, this tool offers a strong blend of visibility and control.

XNSPY’s GPS tracking is not just accurate, it’s also consistently up to date. During testing, location data synced in near real-time with minimal delay, which gave it a noticeable edge over TheWiSpy. 

Moreover, you can view current locations, location history, and set geo-fencing zones with ease. Unlike TheWiSpy, where the geo-fencing setup felt unclear, XNSPY simplifies this process with a clean layout and interactive map. While both apps support geo-fencing alerts, XNSPY delivered more timely notifications and allowed us to manage zones without much guesswork.

The audio quality is generally solid with fewer distortions and minimal lag. Also, the recordings got synced quite quickly. If you’re looking for a tool that delivers both context and clarity when it comes to phone conversations, XNSPY provides a reliable experience.

Verdict: The audio quality of XNSPY’s call recording features gives it a clear edge over TheWiSpy. 

Screen Recording

XNSPY includes both on-demand screen captures and automatic screenshots, giving you two ways to monitor how the target device is being used. The recordings can be triggered remotely and capture app usage, messages, and general screen activity. 

On the other hand, the automatic screenshots are there to capture screen activity after fixed intervals, i.e., after every 5 to 10 seconds.  More importantly, the screenshots got uploaded in real-time. The layout is neatly organized as well. Every screenshot gets sorted in the respective app tab, so you don’t have to deal with a bulk of screenshots.

Verdict: While XNSPY allows you to remotely trigger this command when needed in combination with automated captures, TheWiSpy stands its ground by offering both screen recordings and screenshots. 

Keylogger

One standout feature that gives XNSPY a notable edge over TheWiSpy is its built-in keylogger. XNSPY’s keylogger provides a detailed record of every keystroke typed on the target device, including messages that may never get sent. Verdict: The inclusion of a full-featured keylogger puts XNSPY ahead, as TheWiSpy lacks this entirely.

Verdict: Both apps allow remote blocking options, but the command runs smoother in XNSPY, which also provides more detailed screen time statistics for better activity analysis.
