The Impact of Screen Time on Children

Parents have been lambasting screens since the birth of televisions. They are worried about their kids’ academic performance, mental health, and social skills. Since the pandemic, time spent looking at screens has significantly increased due to several reasons. One of the reasons, schools have to teach online classes. Indeed, children who spend a lot of time looking at their phone screens could have impaired sleep and miss out on necessary socialization. Parents can adopt various techniques to overcome these. For example, parents can limit the time children spend on their phones and instead encourage them to play outside. Here’s an informative infographic for you to check out.

How Facebook’s Latest Ordeal Is Much Worse Than You Might Expect

Facebook, a tech behemoth and undoubtedly the largest social network on the Internet has seen its fair share of controversies over the last decade. They all pale in comparison to their latest scandal. Frances Haugen, former Facebook product manager, exposed Facebook’s dirty laundry on live television in front of Congress. Her testimony confirmed what many of us suspected, Facebook doesn’t care about its users, only its data. Haugen, a well-known name, in Silicon Valley, has held high positions at Yelp, Pinterest, and Google alleged that Facebook consistently took advantage of users’ emotional insecurities for its profits. Haugen worked for Facebook for two years, resigned in April, and officially left in May. She had become increasingly skeptical of Facebook’s slimy tactics. She made it clear that the social network’s algorithm is designed in such a way to incite discourse and create an environment of toxicity. Haugen backed these claims via her leaked documents. The documents show Facebook’s data engineers raised concerns that the algorithm gave birth to “unhealthy side effects on important slices of public content, such as politics and news.” She also called for reverting the changes and instead opting for unbiased, natural engagement on its platform. Facebook’s algorithm ranks content it knows will provoke a reaction from its users. This means engaging content is usually controversial, upsetting, and even false or misleading. “There were conflicts of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for Facebook. And Facebook, over and over again, chose to optimize for its interests, like making more money,” Haugen told 60 minutes correspondent Scott Pelley. The former Facebook product manager also revealed that Instagram (which is owned by Facebook) is harmful for a large population, and particularly teenage girls. Facebook’s staff was studying their product’s effects on young adults’ mental health since at least 2019 and kept it hidden from public knowledge. Facebook’s world domination is far from smooth sailing. Facebook’s immense success has been marred with numerous scandals, but nothing of this stature. It is the first time that a high-ranking employee has come out as a whistleblower, revealing company secrets to the public and Congress. It is also the first time that the company has had this much interest from the public. It seems everyone’s eyes are on the company at this very moment. First, Facebook’s several internal memos got leaked to a major publication (The Washington Post). Then the whistleblower’s identity was revealed on live television, and then the testimony before Congress. All of these occurred like clockwork, just within a few short weeks. Facebook has now gone full defensive mode, as expected. But this time, things are different. The public is aware that the company is refusing to acknowledge the leaks. It is also refuting research conducted by their experts. This time around, the public is familiar with Facebook’s notorious track record when it comes to user privacy. Facebook inciting violence among its users in Myanmar and the Cambridge Analytica fiasco are just some of the examples of its horrid past. No matter how much Facebook tries to cover its tracks or downplay the severity of the situation, it will be hard to fool the world this time around. Facebook had also gotten cocky, in part to its leader’s ego and part to Congress’ inability to hold the tech giant liable to its many misdeeds. Haugen told 60 Minutes that the company had implemented safeguards to reduce misinformation ahead of the 2020 U.S. presidential election. But shortly after the election was over, they turned them off. They turned them back on after the U.S. Capitol riots broke out. It will be hard to take Facebook’s word with such facts into consideration. This time around, even the politicians will be hard to lie to as Mark Zuckerburg tried to do in March of this year. Zuckerberg told Congress that he didn’t believe the research on Instagram’s effects on mental health was conclusive. He said, “overall, the research that we have seen is that using social apps to connect with other people can have positive mental health benefits.” To make matters worse for Facebook, employees who were disgruntled with the company have now a leader to look up to. Haugen has been a beacon of hope for all the employees who turned a blind eye or were too afraid to speak up about their concerns. It will be hard for Facebook to keep a lid on all workers who have been encouraged to come forward. They will be relieved to find hope in the form of Haugen and can always share future research and internal memos with someone that has proved themselves trustworthy. Facebook is in a precarious spot right now where any sort of legal action or ridicule against Haugan will further add a nail in their coffin and Facebook will only dig themselves deeper in their grave. Haugan has the support from her former peers, the public, and even the politicians all of whom have become wary of Facebook’s carefree, holier than thou attitude. She has managed to singlehandedly put the spotlight right back onto Facebook and reminded the world just how dangerous this company can be. This is an unprecedented approach taken by one courageous individual who just wants to make the world a better place. This isn’t about her or Facebook at this point. It is much bigger than both of them. It is about users’ right to privacy and a company’s willingness to go as low as possible to turn a dime into a dollar. Despite Facebook’s incessant pleas of innocence, it is too late to ignore the voice of truth. Haugan might be the best thing that happened to Silicon Valley as it shows there might be hope yet to turn things around and give users their freedom back. This time things will be different for Facebook and all of Silicon Valley.

Reducing Stress of Remote Working
Business

An Easy Guide for Reducing Stress of Remote Working

The trend of remote working has grown exponentially in the last two years. Although this mode of working comes with its share of perks, there are certain challenges as well that become clearer as you get more into the routine of the new normal. And seemingly, these different stressors are a lot different than the early morning drill of getting up, rushing to work, and of course, commuting. All of these tend to take their toll as well. The pandemic urged companies to take a more remote approach that resulted in a large number of people working from home. Research reveals that employees (41%) who worked from home reported experiencing higher stress levels compared to the 25% who worked from the office only. The employees working from home have trouble setting work and personal life boundaries, especially with smart device use. Moreover, work-from-home employees had a hard time ending their work hours than those in an office setting. Managers can help their remote teams through training, especially in terms of managing work from home and reducing stressful factors impacting employee productivity. Having said that, if you are an employee who has been working from home for a long and feels stressed, continue reading for effective stress management. Take Care of Your Mental Health We are going to talk about mental health first. Because of the pandemic, the uncertainty of losing a job and the different stress factors associated with working from home take a toll on one’s mental health. Having a calendar full of deadlines, tasks, and meetings, along with different chores related to home, for most, mental health comes last. Companies should invest in activities that boost the good mental health of their employees. This could be a great help to those who are suffering from poor mental health. Employees should also pay attention and avoid getting burnout. Take regular timed breaks within meetings and work hours. This lets you rest in between and be more productive at work. Have a Dedicated Workplace Surely, the idea of staying in your PJs and remain curled up in bed and work sounds cozy, but you need to pick a spot in your home and make it your workspace. It should be a place where you can easily and solely focus on your job without any distraction. When you put boundaries in place for work or personal life, they can assist you in mentally shifting from home life to work. This way, once the day is over, you can leave your work at the office, the designated workspace. Do focus on your comfort as well. Get yourself an ergonomic chair that supports your neck, back, and spine, making you comfortable at your desk. Set a Fix Routine Creating a routine and sticking to it is one of the most important remote working habits. When you have a routine to follow, you get things done on time and know exactly how much you have to do in a day. Proper planning helps you in preparing and getting organized for the day. You would feel that you have more control over your work. Having a routine includes everything from your bedtime routine to all that you do after getting up in the morning. Incorporate a short and regular exercise routine in your day. It will help lower your anxiety levels and increase the endorphins flow. Take out Time to Connect with Friends For most, meeting with colleagues and workmates is the extent of thriving friendships in their lives. Since the pandemic made people stay at home, many people’s social life has taken a hit as well. With no people to meet and talk to has led to feelings of isolation. If you also feel lonely, try to make an effort and connect with your friends and other supportive individuals that are part of your circle. They might have different schedules. But with planning, you guys can set up a time to chat and call each other or do conference video calls. You can create group chats as well and stay in touch with each other all week. Pay Attention to Your Information Consumption Although you should stay informed regarding the latest news, you should pay close attention to the kind of information you consume. One must protect himself from the overload of information as well as misinformation. Get your information only from trusted sources, and that, too, relevant one. Ignore all the rest. You would be affecting both your emotional and mental health by the constant stream of negative news that is coming in from all over the world. Poor mental health increases both anxiety and stress levels that impact focus and work performance. It is Alright to Say “No” It is quite common to get non-work-related queries and requests while you are working. Now, for some people, refusing someone is out of the question. They have a hard time saying no or place their own needs above someone else. You need to learn and get comfortable with turning down someone’s requests if it affects or hinders your ability to get the job done. When you set the right boundaries, they help you in keeping from taking on too much on your shoulders. You get some time to relax as well. Get Sufficient Sleep Getting quality sleep at the end of the day directly impacts both your physical and mental health. Also, the kind of sleep you get impacts your overall well-being, which includes your ability to work from home. Avoid using screens late at night as it disturbs your sleep patterns. Practice good sleeping habits. Wrapping up, work from home is great in terms of the freedom and flexibility that it offers. However, to avoid burnouts, you should know how to tackle the hidden stressors. If your company still has a work-from-home policy, follow the tips mentioned above to reduce the stressors as much as possible and better your overall work-life balance. Cyberbullying in Virtual Classrooms and How to Curb It

The recent COVID-19 outbreak demanded a shift in everyday strategies from everyone in the world. Companies had to shift to a work-from-home system while schools had to adapt to online classrooms. And while the workforce has found its footing in the online sphere, schools and students still struggle a year on. And for more reasons than one.  Student attendance, usage of incorrect teaching tools, and the inability of teachers to connect with their students are all prominent issues virtual classrooms face today. But perhaps there is another that routinely slips through attention when discussing modern classroom methods. This is the issue of cyberbullying. With children spending more time online than ever before, many teachers have witnessed an influx in cyberbullying among their students in online classrooms. According to a recent study by Security.org, roughly 21% of students between ages 10 and 18 have reported cyberbullying. A study by L1ght reported a 70% increase in hate speech and a 40% increase in online toxicity among students on online platforms. The findings came after analyzing communication on millions of websites, discussion boards, and gaming platforms.  DoSomething.org—a non-profit digital platform focusing on social change—has also estimated around 37% of students, ages 12 to 17, falling victim to cyberbullying, with 30% reporting these instances more than once. It’s happened more than once. All of this is compounded with research consistently placing victims of cyberbullying at higher risk of suicidal behaviors and self-harm. Shifting to a remote studying environment also makes it easier for students to continue cyberbullying and target a larger pool of victims, making them more susceptible to this problem. And with online classrooms to continue throughout 2021 in various countries, schools and parents need to be ready to address cyberbullying and encourage a safer learning environment for their students. This begins by requiring parents, teachers, and other support staff to learn the signs of trouble and implement strategies to focus on positive digital citizenship. 4 Ways to Curb Cyberbullying in Virtual Classrooms 1- Noticing the signs of cyberbullying in virtual classrooms It is first pertinent to know how it begins and how to detect it. This is true for cyberbullying too. This is where the role of teachers and parents comes in, and they should note any changes in student engagement or individual behavior. Signs of cyberbullying can be subtle. It can start off with your child expressing hesitancy in turning their cameras on during video lessons. Feelings of angst, frustration, and depression are also commonly associated with victims of cyberbullying. Present research on child bullying shows that children who display signs of anxiety while using their devices avoid talking about their online activity. Spending lesser time online could also be a sign that your child is battling cyberbullying. Parents should be on top of things when finding signs in their children that may hint that they might be instigating cyberbullying. Some of these hints include hiding their screens, having multiple accounts online, or avoiding discussions about their online activity. 2- Using tech tools to promote online safety and digital citizenship Today, many educational technology platforms feature built-in options that have been developed solely to mitigate cyberbullying. Google for Education, Lightspeed Systems Classroom, and GoGuardian are all popular tools that feature safety tools to mitigate inappropriate online activity and promote digital citizenship. The Be Internet Awesome game featured on Google for Education is a great way for students to learn about the importance of online safety. It also encourages them to work together to fight against bullying. Similarly, GoGuardian is also an educational tool that emphasizes internet safety. Their web filter offers teachers the ability to monitor and manage any device in their network. And YouTube’s filtering options, parents and teachers can block offensive comments, keywords, live chats, and even complete video categories. Teachers can also share student activity directly with parents using its parent reporting app. 3- Ensuring a positive learning environment online Understanding the signs that a child may be partaking in cyberbullying or is the victim of such an activity is important, but preventing the act altogether is much better. The best way to get this going is to initiate a positive climate and introduce measures that highlight student safety online. To successfully enable such an environment, teachers should highlight the risks and effects linked with cyberbullying. Additionally, schools should have forums or online portals that help them report instances of cyberbullying.Today, many schools in the US implement a series of cyberbullying resources intended for parents and students and have reporting portals linked on their websites. This way, schools can weed out the instances accurately and quickly and ensure parents have the necessary resources to help their children cope with such situations. 4- Use monitoring apps or parental control software The final and surefire tool in the school and parent’s arsenal is the conventional monitoring app or parental control software. These prove to be the best deterrents against cyberbullying.  XNSpy is perhaps best suited for this purpose than most. With the vast range of devices it supports and a plethora of options available for parents and teachers alike, XNSpy is the defacto solution for cyberbullying. The app can be installed on iOS and Android phones and tablets and can be used to silently monitor your child’s activity and reports it to you. You can even remotely access the devices they use and check any aspect, including the students they’ve been interacting with. And with its screen-recording feature, parents can have ample evidence to bring forward to the school for reporting. Effective measures can then be promptly taken with the help of the activities recorded by Xnspy.

5 Obstacles to Implementing Employee Monitoring Software in the Workplace and Recommended Solutions

Employee monitoring software has seen a spike in popularity in recent years, as businesses use it to keep track of their employees’ activities at work. In essence, the method may be a useful tool for assessing one’s productivity, performance, number of hours worked, timeliness, and other important aspects of operating a successful company. According to data conducted by Clutch, the top B2B ratings and reviews business, 21% of employees in the United States believe that their firms use employee monitoring software. This figure is expected to rise due to the COVID-19 epidemic since many businesses have moved their employees to work from home. However, according to specialists at Computer World, some employees are concerned about the trend because of privacy concerns and the extent to which employers should monitor their staff. Here are some obstacles that businesses may face while using employee monitoring software, as well as some suggestions for how to overcome them: 1. Privacy Infringement Privacy invasion is a common complaint made by employees about monitoring software. It’s unclear what they’re being watched for, why they’re being watched for, and how they’re being watched for. Furthermore, there may be skepticism about the aim and potential repercussions of obtaining software in the first place. There should be total openness between management and employees to ensure that the software’s scope of monitoring is confined to their professional tasks alone. It would also be beneficial if your staff was involved in the software selection process. If your firm is considering purchasing employee tracking software, FinancesOnline has a list of options. 2. Data Protection The security of employees’ personal information is another important concern. It is a particularly important issue nowadays because many individuals use their devices for work. In addition, as hacking becomes more prevalent in the digital age, data security becomes more insecure. Companies should invest in top-of-the-line cloud servers to assist in securing the company’s assets, including employee data, to alleviate this issue. Management must ensure employees that their data is secure. 3. Legality It’s unclear what corporations are authorized to monitor and under what conditions under the law. Different restrictions and requirements depend on the nation and region, so businesses must research legal issues before investing in monitoring software. It will safeguard not just the company’s interests but also the well-being of its workers. Employees must be trained on the legal implications of employee monitoring when the software is introduced to overcome this issue. Employees will be told from the start that the procedure is legal and that they are aware of the potential consequences of using this program. 4. Distrust Monitoring, in whatever form, highlights the question of corporate mistrust and loyalty. Is it acceptable to monitor? Will employees be scrutinized all of the time? What are the reactions of employees to being watched? These are some of the concerns that may emerge when an employee monitoring system is implemented. Companies can get over this obstacle by offering software as a tool for achieving their objectives. It’s critical that the company’s marketing has an aspect of inclusion so that employees may strive for a shared objective. In this sense, the software would be seen as a method to contribute to the company’s success. Another effective technique is introducing employees to the program to emphasize how it benefits them personally by enhancing their project management abilities. Companies may dispel any doubts their employees might have about the software’s purpose by putting a positive spin on it, turning it into motivation for their staff to succeed. 5. Productivity Result Employee monitoring software’s primary goal is to increase productivity. However, its efficacy is debatable. Some employees claim that the monitoring app has no significant impact on their production and only increases their workload. Businesses should emphasize the software’s core goal of increasing employee productivity to address this issue. They may accomplish it by focusing on several methods for increasing production. As a result, the software is positioned as a means to a goal, enabling workers to become their best professional selves. Conclusion Apprehensions and uncertainties will accompany the introduction of any new protocols or systems. Employee surveillance and workplace privacy concerns go hand in hand. That’s very natural. As a result, businesses must educate their employees on the advantages of employee monitoring. They must comprehend that the software is a valuable instrument for the company’s success and the personal development of its personnel. Empowering workers benefit the firm, and including them in the process helps them feel more engaged. It instills in them a sense of value. Isn’t it exactly what we’re looking for?

Parenting controls for kids

The Need for Parental Controls On Our Kids’ Smartphones

Parenting in the digital era is more difficult than it used to be. Rapid technological developments provide parents with new and tough problems because parents now must routinely safeguard their children from the hazards of technology and the internet. On the other hand, children are well educated and have grown up in the digital age, causing them to rely on technology more than previous generations. Computers and cellphones are now not only used by children to socialize but are now required at school. As a result, smartphones are more accessible than ever, and children and teenagers are likely to spend most of their day using them without the supervision of their parents or instructors. Being exposed to sexual content too young, connecting with dangerous individuals, cyberbullying, identity theft, and overexposure to digital blue light are all possible risks for children and teenagers when using smartphones. Fortunately, as technology has progressed, so can you protect your children online and provide measures to shield them from the negative effects of the digital age. That is why parental control and time limitations on smartphones with the aid of iPhone and Android spy app should be implemented until children and teenagers are old enough to bear the responsibility on their own. Advantages of Parental Controls Although there are several advantages to using parental controls on smartphones, it is equally critical to communicate with children. Parental controls help safeguard children from dangerous information, and the first step in implementing these controls should be to ensure that children and teenagers understand their purpose. Parental controls are used to: 1. It helps Protect Your Children from Harmful Content Inappropriate stuff abounds on the internet, and even if youngsters aren’t seeking it, they may come upon it. Parents may use parental controls to prevent their children from accessing specific applications and websites. However, Parents cannot block every single site that may be inappropriate for their children. However, they can use parental controls to monitor their children’s activities on the internet. Also, Parents can restrict sites with adult material or gambling as it can safeguard youngsters from inappropriate content and prevent them from purchasing applications without permission. 2. It prevents sexting and cyberbullying Children are more prone to cyberbullying, peer pressure, and sexting via media platforms and text because of smartphones and the internet. You can track conversations and content across text messages, call records, pictures, websites, social media, and other platforms with parental controls. It will aid in the prevention of bullying, predatory behaviour, and abuse among youngsters. 3. Screen Time Should Be Restricted Finally, parental controls can help you keep track of how much time your children spend with their smartphones. There are various useful methods and tools for protecting your children from the bad impacts of screens, but parental controls provide simple monitoring access. Parental controls allow you to track device usage and set periods for devices to be locked, so they aren’t used too much. Smartphones can be beneficial to children, but they can be harmful to them physically and emotionally if they are used incorrectly or too frequently. Setting up parental controls is a simple and effective method to educate children on using gadgets responsibly and safely. At the same time, they are still young, which will benefit them in the future. To get control over your child’s smartphones activity, sign up for a subscription plan on some iPhone or Android spy app. Time Limitations Setting time limits is equally as essential as using parental controls. Digital displays emit blue light—a visible light wavelength with a high energy level. Digital eye strain, burnout, eye tiredness and redness, headaches, disturbed sleep habits, and more can be caused by this wavelength. Like natural blue light released by the sun, the high-energy wavelength stimulates the eye and intellect. However, compared to their exposure to natural blue light, children use digital gadgets considerably more frequently and in closer proximity. Digital blue light is used to simulate natural blue light, giving the impression that the sun is shining. It throws off your normal circadian rhythm, which is your body’s internal clock that informs it when it’s time to sleep. When children are overexposed to blue light, it can impact them in a variety of ways. Parents should either set tight daily time restrictions for their children’s usage of smartphones or employ the solutions that are now available to fight the detrimental effects of blue light by utilizing the features of an iPhone and Android spy app. Blue light filtering glasses are a simple item that you can purchase separately or as an addition to an existing prescription for your child. These glasses include a protective layer on the lenses that block out the dangerous blue light generated by gadgets. Consequently, children can use digital displays while wearing blue light spectacles to avoid digital eye strain, burnout, and overstimulation. When you can’t limit your child’s screen time due to online education or other obligations, blue light glasses are a fantastic option for protecting their eyes and minds.

EMPLOYEE TRACKING: INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY OR INVASION OF PRIVACY?

Employers want their employees to perform their best at all times and produce the greatest outcomes possible, but motivating them isn’t always as simple as it should be. Today, however, GPS monitoring features embedded within the best app to monitor smartphone remotely allows firms to keep track of their staff at all times to improve performance and save lost time. GPS tracking can help make a workforce more effective and productive in various ways, but it also has drawbacks. Privacy, for instance, can be infringed upon by employers. Planning is one of the most significant benefits of using GPS monitoring in your day-to-day operations. It mostly applies to firms specializing in freight delivery, notably those with a fleet of trucks moving up and down highways (and further afield). Punctuality is essential: both B2B and B2C customers will be irritated if their orders arrive late. It can have far-reaching consequences for your reputation. After all, it only takes one negative internet review for a potential consumer to have second thoughts. Building a strong reputation is critical for SMEs, and SMEs should never underestimate the power of dissatisfied consumers that account for more than 98 percent of all enterprises. Businesses can use GPS tracking features embedded within the best app to monitor smartphones remotely to monitor the routes their drivers travel and inform them of any faster options; they may also be able to remain updated on any obstructions or diversions, reducing wasted time. The driver will also have their GPS device put in their car, and both parties will be able to discuss any issues or ideas while seeing the same data. Another advantage of GPS tracking is that it helps you save money, particularly on gas. A motorist may pick routes that take longer than planned or drive in a way that burns more gasoline, resulting in greater costs. Businesses may grow skeptical of a driver’s cost claims and seek to match their driving patterns to the money spent. Employers may use GPS monitoring devices to determine how honest and efficient their drivers are. The installation of GPS trackers and tracking software can prevent unethical behaviour and motivate staff to work better. Nonetheless, businesses may employ GPS tracking in their offices, warehouses, factories, and stores. These can be loaded as apps on phones (either personal or commercial models) or wearable technologies (such as a wristband). Employers may monitor workers during the day using GPS monitoring, analyzing their actions and habits. An employee at an office, for example, may spend the majority of the day moving from one department to another, talking with coworkers, and diverting themselves and their colleagues. While this may not be a big problem in rare instances, if it occurs regularly (or even daily), it may have a substantial impact on productivity – and, eventually, income. Businesses may use GPS devices to address such issues with employees as required, reducing the lost time as soon as feasible. They may give statistics confirming the length of time said person spends away from their desk, distracting others, and breaking down the impact this might have on overall performance. Drawbacks of Employee Tracking GPS technology has several advantages, yet it may be viewed as an invasion of privacy. Companies may, in rare instances, put a tracking app on their workers’ personal phones. This is absolutely illegal. Also, any firm seeking to incorporate GPS into their operations must have a valid justification for doing so and be able to back up their claim. It is also critical that firms do not utilize monitoring technology to monitor workers’ actions outside of work, as this violates their privacy. (https://www.jonesaroundtheworld.com/) In the past, employees have objected to being tracked by GPS monitoring technology, considering it to be excessive and invading their privacy. It’s a reasonable argument, especially when employees were not aware of their employers’ surveillance. Workers may get defensive when told they will be monitored, implying that their bosses do not trust them to perform as expected, which will negatively influence morale. That is why any firm must be open and honest with its employees about any plans to begin monitoring them. They should be completely transparent about their motivations and how they intend to use any data acquired. A trusted, appreciated, and driven staff is considerably more productive than one that is not. It is in the best interests of every firm to address these concerns seriously.

6 Ways to Help your Teenagers to Choose a Career Path

Young people in high schools possess full enthusiasm and passion to accomplish their dreams. The current economic and social changes in the world are forcing young people to take part-time jobs. Young people need skills to prepare them for new challenges.  As today’s parents are super busy, they often fail to devote hours to guide their children regarding career options and opportunities. Many teenagers look for either summer jobs or evening jobs to meet their financial needs. These jobs provide them ample opportunities to learn new skills and understand the value of money.  According to Statista, teenager unemployment rates have risen to 8.6% in 2019. This is because there are fewer jobs available for low-skilled people with good wages. Most employers do not take risk of losses by hiring unskilled adolescents. Moreover, due to changes in the academic calendar, most teenagers work unpaid internships, which do add to their employment credentials.  If your kid has basic coding or designing skills, they might be able to help real businesses out there to multiply their skills. You can encourage them to start their own business or guide them to get part-time jobs to support their educational endeavors.  The statistics also show that almost 17% of people between 16 to 29 are neither in schools nor employed by organizations. For young people, career planning should move away from the traditional search for jobs to developing new skills.  Amidst all the confusion, parents can help their kids to choose a career path to add value to their lives. Let us get started.  1. Get them a Part-Time Job  Part-time jobs are great teachers for young kids to gain valuable real-life skills. Encouraging teens to get a salesperson job does not mean you are encouraging them to sell burgers for the rest of their lives. It means you are encouraging them to learn time management and communication skills.  Part-time jobs also help teens to discover their own likes and dislikes. 2. Learn by Volunteering or Taking Classes  If your teen is wasting time aimlessly during holidays, you can encourage them to learn valuable skills through volunteering. For example, some companies and startups always embrace unpaid work or need volunteers due to budget constraints. Teens can gain valuable skills and happily perform volunteering work.  Moreover, if your kid loves cooking or debating, you can allow them to take related courses at local institutes to grow their skills.  3. Research Careers with Fields of Interest  Kids can search different online resources and search the suggested jobs according to their interests. For example, they can research the average income related to that job; they can visit job boards such as Indeed and Glassdoor to make smart career choices for their future.  Since many students wish to pursue a dream job that pays well; searching related career sites can expand their knowledge to find an ideal employer.
