12 Days of XNSPY Xmas—Child Monitoring on the Go with GPS Tracker

This generation is a busy one. Kids are at school/ university; both parents have 9-5 jobs. Gone are the days where the family sits down for dinner. Even if everyone does find themselves within the house at the same time for dinner, every member will want to eat alone in their rooms watching something on their phones or computers. It cannot be helped; it comes with the busy lifestyle that 2017 asks everyone of. So, this Xmas, let us bring your attention to one of our bestselling features ever—the GPS tracker for child monitoring! With everyone having so little communication or even interaction with each other in the household, parents become disconnected with their children’s lives and leave them to their own. But this is a huge mistake a lot of parents are making these days. Kids are kids and need constant adult supervision- no matter how mature you think your child might be. At least at home you can say that you have some sort of watch over your kid’s lives but kids spend a lot of time outside and God knows where they go. As innocent as you think your child might be, you have no idea what they might be doing when they are not in your supervision or what others might be forvng them to do. Thus as a parent you have got to be in the know about your kids lives and what they are doing when you do not have your watchful eye over them. XNSPY steps in to fill this gap between you and your child’s lives and helps you to finally catch up with them. So How Does The XNSPY GPS Tracker Work? Well the XNSPY GPS trackers track the exact location of the person you may want to track and that too in real time. You will actually be able to see the user you are monitoring- in this case your child- move from place to place on the map( provided they have a good internet connection)  XNSPY uses your phones location services so you can rest assured that the location that you will receive on your phone sure is an accurate one. You can not only track their real time location, but also get detailed location history of the user you are tracking. So for instance you have not currently monitoring the user, you will still get timely updates on every location they visit and you will also know how long they stayed in that place as well. The location updates as soon as they change their location. If they are stationary and in the same location for a while, the tracker will not update and will send you the same information as long as they stay in the same place. But if and when they move places, you will immediately be notified of their movements and can then use real time location tracking to see where they are going. Just make sure the person you are tracking has a good internet connection! Okay But Why Do I Need To Track My Child? Good question. Every parent might ask the same question and think that tracking their location with XNSPY might be a bit too much. But what those parents might also be unaware of is that there has been a constant rise in alcohol abuse among teens and young adults alike. And organizations that monitor alcohol consumption say that this alarming statistic is all but on the rise among teenagers and there looks to be no slowing down. So you as a parent need to look at where your kids are going out for. They might be going out for something as innocent as a trip to the library but who knows that your child and their friends might be going out for a drink or two. It is not unheard of teenagers to drink beyond their limits and as a result even die of alcohol poisoning. This is especially common in fraternity houses. Alcohol is one thing but drug abuse is another. Unfortunately drug abuse by teenagers is also on the rise and needs to be stopped. The only way this can happen is by parents stepping in and taking things into their own hands. Parents can view their child’s location history or view it in real time to make sure that they are going where they said they would go. But if you are still unsure of their activities, then you can use XNSPY’s call monitoring to listen in on conversations your child is having. If you find out that they might be involved in something dangerous then you can immediately step in and do your job as a parent to protect them. Still Not Convinced? Your child spends about most of their time of the day in their schools right? Well, what if I told you those schools are breeding grounds for peer pressure related drug incidents, alcohol consumption and much more. Recently, a school in Winnipeg was raided by police and it was found that children had hidden cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, ecstasy and other drugs were seized. This was not the only school in Winnipeg that had this problem, other elementary schools in the area were also raided and other harmful substances were found. It is interesting to note that none of the school’s administration knew of the drugs that were in the schools and it is after the police raided these institutions did they find that they had drugs in hidden in the buildings. Now any parent might think that their kids are as safe as possible in schools but as the evidence shows- that is not the case at all. Your younger kids might be safe from these but your teenagers might not be. It is best that you use XNSPY’s location tracking and its call monitoring to make sure that your kids are not involved in anything dangerous. Parents already have to worry about their kids when they go out and

Whether you are a concerned parent, a responsible employer or even someone who is concerned for their loved ones wellbeing- you will know that you might not always have the upper hand when dealing with problems. In problems with kids, employees and even other loved ones the one thing you find yourself wanting is more information just so you can solve the problem faster and maybe even more efficiently. Employers and parents will relate to this the most. Imagine this scenario: your teenage son or daughter is locked up in their room for days and will not talk to you about their problems or at least what is making them so irritated. In cases like these you just wish your child would open up to you right? Well with how teenagers are it could take weeks if not months to have them finally tell you what was bothering them and by that time and by that time it is usually too late. And when you do find out what was bothering them, you will see that it was something you could have easily helped them with. Parents need to step in when kids as young as 12 are buying drugs by communicating with drug dealers through their phones and later getting in trouble because of it. How does XNSPY’s Call Log Monitoring Help Me? If you have a busy life and find it increasingly hard to keep up with your kids’ lives then XNSPY is definitely the app for you. Using the Call Log Monitoring you can check sent and received calls with name and numbers on the targets phone. This makes it easier for parents to keep check on their kids remotely and have an eye on them even when they might not be with them. Say for instance you fear that your child is keeping in contact with someone you may feel like is a bad influence on your own child. You can confirm your suspicions by using  XNSPY’s Call Log Monitoring and check the number of the person they are calling, how many times they have called, how long did they call and to top it all off, you can even check the name of the person that was being called. XNSPY gives parents a detailed overview of their child’s call log history and helps them to keep them safe from dangers. Parents can use this Call Log Monitoring for a plethora of reasons and keeping their children safe is just one of them. The XNPSY Call Log Monitoring even gives parents information on where the call was made. The GPS tag will help parents to really keep a strict eye on their child and keep them away from harm’s way. How XNSPY’s Call Log Monitoring can help an Employer But if you are not a parent but an employer who is concerned with their employee’s performance, this app can help you even more. The question on every employers mind during work hours is usually ‘Are my employees working to their fullest potential?’ or ‘Are they giving it their all?’ or even ‘Are they robbing me blind?’ All of these questions are absolutely well founded since a lot of employees will try and cheat you and make sure that they can slack off as much as they can during work hours. It is your job as an employer to make sure that your workforce are inspired to work as hard as they can while they are under you. But to accomplish this, you will need to utilize every tool at your disposal. Because let us be real: no one is really sincere about their job and really is in it for the money. Which is completely fair but this attitude does not inspire a drive for work; rather your employees will try and do as little work as possible for maximum gains. This is why is becomes imperative for you as an employer to use XNSPY’s Call Log Monitoring and keep a stricter eye on them s that they do what they are told to. This can help you most if your employees are not always in your direct supervision and work off-site. You will need to use the Call Log Monitoring to make sure who they call, if they are slacking off calling people during work hours, or even if they are calling the people they are supposed to. Any good employer will tell you that they have to keep a constant watch over their employees to guarantee efficient work flow. The one thing most employers are scared of is, more than employees slacking off, is work related theft. Slacking off is something that every employer can deal with easily but catching work related thievery becomes difficult. You may have suspicions that one of your employees is stealing from you but suspicions are just that: suspicions. You cannot even go up and accuse the suspect of the crime because if you do and you find out that they do not have anything on them and your suspicions were unfounded, well you just may end up with a lawsuit on your hands. But if you do use the right tools such as XNSPY’s Call Log Monitoring, you can check call logs and see whether they are making suspicious calls during work hours and then use this information to catch them in the act. So using XNSPY’s Call Log Monitoring you can confirm your suspicions and gather every bit of information you can to take care of any problems that you may face. Dealing with problems is not hard if you have the right tools

The Human Effect of Moderating the Internet

When something goes wrong on the internet that is the only time moderation is discussed and or criticized. Earlier this year on Easter Day Steve Stephens went around driving and got out of his car to shoot and kill a 74 year old man even though they had never met before. He recorded the entire assault on his phone after which he posted it on Facebook. In April, in Thailand, a man killed his eleven year old daughter of a rooftop in a deserted hotel before he killed himself too and live streamed this on Facebook. Only six days later, Naika Venant, a 14 year old, who lived in a Foster home, tied a scarf to a shower’s glass doorframe and hung herself. She streamed the whole suicide on Facebook Live, in real time. In a similar manner, in the next month a Georgia teenager took pills and placed a bag over her head to suffocate herself, all the while streaming the entire attempt on Facebook Live. She only survived because people watching the livestream called local police and they arrived just in time to save her life. These events are the extreme, headlining news for you average person. Truly these are terrible events that should have never reached to amount of people it got and should have been taken care of before anyone saw it or was affected by it. That is the job of an estimated 150,000, just to look at these sort of events and to remove them, deal with them in a correct manner. Sometimes accidents happen and things slip past. These are you content moderators. Content Moderation Content Moderation is the practice of carefully monitoring of content on line to see whether or not the content lines up with the terms of use for the Internet service providers and social networking websites such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and etc. The job is performed by human moderators, though aided by algorithms and AI, moderators remove any offensive material that crosses their path. This requires them to review any content that has been reported or circulated before they make the decision to delete or keep it. The moderation of the internet is perhaps the silent guardian of the internet, keeping to the back of the internet but it’s existence serves critical importance to the interaction of the average user, making sure they have a safe and clean experience whenever they’re online. The average person or user is therefore unaware of the amount of effort and human labor it goes behind making sure their own experience goes smooth while browsing the internet. Think of any distressing video or content you have watched and think of how it made you felt. Now imagine having a job where you have to see distressing, offensive and downright wrong material to get rid of it. The Content That We Don’t Get to See When you think of content moderation, you might brush it off as community moderators do, removing or approving posts like those in Facebook groups or even Reddit communities. And you’re not wrong to think that either. But it goes a little further than say, a risqué Halloween picture of a bunch of friends or pictures of parties where it drinking or the use of drugs is depicted. This type of content, while it may be offensive to some, is pretty harmless when it comes to what moderators really have to deal with. The other content the moderators have to deal with daily ranges from child pornography, rape, torture to bestiality, beheading, gore and videos of extreme violence. While this type of content maybe in the minority, think of how much content is posted or shared every day. According to Brand watch, a social media intelligence firm, about 3.2 billion pictures are shared every single day. Every day on Youtube, 300 hours of videos are posted every minute. 6000 tweets a second are posted which amounts to 500 million tweets a day. So if two percent of the images are inappropriate, that means 64 million posts violate terms of service agreement alone. “There was literally nothing enjoyable about the job. You’d go into work at 9 a.m. every morning, turn on your computer and watch someone have their head cut off,” one Facebook moderator told the Guardian earlier this year. “Every day, every minute, that’s what you see. Heads being cut off.” The Story of One Such Content Moderator Such is the life of any moderator. Henry Soto moved from Texas to Washington in 2005 along with his wife Sara so that Henry could take on a job at Microsoft. Ten years later, Henry has problems spending time with his son, not because his child is unruly or he is too distant from him, but because just by looking at his child, terrible images would be triggered in Soto’s head. This was reportedly because of the images he’d seen while watching, reviewing and moderating content for Microsoft, much of which was child rape and murder. In 2016, Henry Soto and Greg Blauret(another content moderator) filed a lawsuit against Microsoft. The complaint for damages filed by their lawyers detail a horrifying image which in fact is reality where Soto and Blauret spent hours each day filtering out graphic and obscene content without adequate psychological support. As the lawsuit details, Soto worked in customer support in its respective department where he manages call center operations and worked to repair problems related to MSN.com when he was involuntarily shifted to Online Safety department in 2008. The complaint further detail that “neither Soto not Blauret were warned about the likely dangerous impact of reviewing the depictions not where they warned that they may become so concerned with the welfare of the children, they would not appreciate the harm toxic images would cause them and their families” “He was initially told that he was going to be moderating terms of use, that’s all,” says Ben Wells, the attorney representing Soto in the lawsuit. “And then he

The Highest Downloaded Apps from the Past Month on Android

The application market is still one of the most visited places on the internet. More and more people are able to access mobile phone technology and the internet from around the world. This means that every year there has been a substantial increase in downloads and increases in traffic in the application market, especially on Android platforms and Google’s Play Store.  Apple’s iPhone and iOS seem to lacking growth in emerging economies and other third world countries simply because the iPhones are much more expensive than the Android supported phones found in countries like these. Apple may need to look into this matter if they want to expand globally. But as is-the Android application market is still seeing a mammoth amount of downloads on its Google Play Store platform. Most of the top downloaded apps in the past month on Android platforms seem to have been messaging apps. Most of these apps also are owned by the technology and social media titan- Facebook. Out of the top ten downloaded apps in the past month, Facebook owns six of them.  This is quite the accomplishment for the social media company.  But it is also a red-flag for parent and guardians around the world. Here are the top downloaded apps in the past month. 1.     WhatsApp Messenger WhatsApp Messenger has been one of the most popular messaging apps in the market ever since it was released into the market. It still quite has not found its footing in the western market especially within the United States but everywhere else in the world it has become the staple messaging app everyone downloads and uses. This past month it received 88.48 million downloads. WhatsApp Messenger is messenger that gives the user a lot of useful features inside the app. The file-sharing system is one of the strongest features in the app hands down. A user can send and receive .pdf files, pictures, documents and much more. People can also put up their personal ‘stories’. The app of course is not present without its fair share of controversies. It allows for complete end to end encryption meaning that not even concerned authorities can view messages sent and received on this app. 2.     Facebook Messenger The app to come in second after Facebook’s WhatsApp is Facebook’s own Messenger. The messaging app first started out as the social media website’s own chat servicer but eventually transitioned into a much bigger deal when it became its own entity. The messaging service on the social media website- especially on mobile versions of the website requires a user to install the Messenger app before they can send and receive messages. Messenger also features video calling and voice calling and also lets users send pictures back and forth. As stated before, it was started to replace Facebook’s own on-site messaging service and over the years it has accomplished its goal. The app received 76.64 million downloads in the past month. 3.     Instagram The image sharing website- also owned by Facebook ranks third in most downloaded apps in the past month. The app rose to popularity early in the days of the application market and ever since then has maintained a top position in downloads. The app lets users post pictures on a timeline and let them view pictures of other people as well. The app rose to popularity primarily because of the photo filters it featured but also had a plethora of other features it boasted. The recent stories feature- which it blatantly ripped off from Snapchat has also become its most popular and most used feature. Instagram has seen many new features and updates being added to it over the years and has maintained a respectable position in the market as a result. This past month Instagram was downloaded 42.94 million times. 4.     Facebook The social media giant needs no introduction and its app too for that matter. The app for the social media website itself ranks number four on the charts for the most downloaded app in the past month. The app is basically the website optimized for the best mobile user experience. It has all the features the website offers plus some more smart-phone centric such as linking between other apps and file sharing. It also features a ‘story’ similar to WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. The app was downloaded 33.56 million times in the past month. 5.     Facebook Lite Just below the actual Facebook app is the Facebook Lite app. This version of the Facebook app is only 1MB and offers a much reduced set of features than its counterpart. This app does not allow for viewing images and is majorly text-based. It was obviously designed with slower internet connections in mind and is largely popular in countries where a stable internet connection is hard to come by. The app can also be downloaded on older phones that are not smartphones. This is a major selling point for the app as a smartphone is still much too expensive for people to buy. The app was downloaded 22.42 million times. 6.     Wish Wish is a relatively new app that has quickly gained popularity with its users. It is a shopping app that lets users find items at a cheaper price than they would in stores. It finds items that you would normally receive at a higher price at a much reduced price and even delivers said item to your location. Currently only operating in the United Stated and Europe it looks to expand its users to Asia soon. The app has amassed a total of 21.98 million downloads. 7.     Snapchat The pictorial story based app- Snapchat is one of the most popular apps available in the app market and has maintained that position ever since it first came to the market. The app is a fun mixture of posting stories, taking selfies and keeping up to date with fun news. It allows for users to send each pictures and post to their story from which other users can

Everything You Need to Know About the Apple iPhone 8, 8+ and iPhone X

Apple in yesterday’s show unveiled the future of the iPhone in the form of two new releases: the Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8+ and the one that every leak and every rumor was speculating of: the iPhone X. The former of the two releases are successors to last year’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7+ but they are heavily improved in terms of their functionality, speed, power, charging, camera and many more new exciting features. This will be the staple model Apple is expecting to sell most and as such it is priced accordingly. But celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of the first ever iPhone way back in 2007, Apple decided to release an all new smart phone that was separate from all their other models. The iPhone X is an amalgamation and a celebration of everything the iPhone has been over the past 10 years. It is radically different from their staple iPhones; looking, feeling different and offering a totally new experience to users. The iPhone 8 and 8+ are not far behind, they too have been drastically improved over their previous models. The iPhone 8 and 8+ The All new iPhone 8 and 8+ were thought by many online to be the iPhone 7S and 7S+ but as it turns out they are the new main installments in the 10 year long Apple iPhones. The new iPhones sport an entire glass body- a first for the iPhone series. This glass body is designed as such to be compatible with the new wireless charging Apple has finally un-veiled.  Apple is pretty late to the wireless charging party, with this technology being first being popularized when Samsung used it with the Galaxy S4 in 2013. The iPhone 8 and 8+ will support Qi chargers so users can buy non-Apple chargers to charge their devices. Apple claims that the glass is the strongest ever to grace a smartphone-whether that claim holds up is any ones guess. Both the iPhones have an IP67 certification which means that they are very resistant to dust and water. But Apple has finally introduced it and its users will now take full advantage of the wireless charging properties. The processor has been heavily improved and given a new name. The A11 chip is a six core processing unit with two of its cores being low-performance cores and the rest of the four being high-performance. Apple claims that the low-performance cores are 25% faster than the A10 chip found in previous iPhones and the new high-performance cores are –as Apple claims- 75% faster than the A10 SoC. The new iPhone 8 and 8+ also come with new Graphics Processing Units that Apple has made themselves. They ended their partnership with the British graphics company Imagination Technologies. Apple claims that there is a 30% increase in performance with this GPU compared with the old ones. Apple has worked so hard to create their own GPU because of their heavy focus on augmented reality related apps this time around. Apple has focused heavily on augmented reality so they have included their own GPU. The resolution of the new iPhone screen is 1334×750 with the True Tone display spearheading the smartphone screen. The home button is still there, over new stereo speakers that are placed on top and bottom of the device.  The iPhone 8 features an all-new 12 megapixel camera while the iPhone 8+ features a heavily improved f/1.8 and f/2.8 front and back sensors. Prices start from $799+ The iPhone X The iPhone X (iPhone 10) is the most different iteration of the iPhone Apple has ever released. The all new bezel-less design ushers in an era of sleek designs and sleeker phones. Apple have taken a huge step and abandoned their iconic home-button. They have traded it in for a completely bezel-less display. With a simple swipe-up gesture a user can access the home screen. The brand new iPhone comes with wireless charging, an Apple-first all glass body, and a ‘Super Retina Display’. With all things considered, the new iPhone X looks incredibly sleek. The large design on the front and the glass body and the dual camera on the back offer a regal and exclusive look that only Apple can offer. It should be noted that the iPhone X is pricier than the iPhone 8 and 8+ with pricing starting from $999+ The specifications list an impressive one. Its sports a 5.8 inch 2436×1125 resolution all screen display that is OLED. The iPhone X just like the iPhone 8 and 8+ has IP67 certification, a new Apple GPU, wireless charging and Face ID. There is a 7 megapixel front facing camera and a 12 megapixel dual camera on the back of the iPhone X. There are two version of the iPhone X available to buy: 64GB and 256GB model. See Also: How to Spy on iPhone without Jailbreak? The Touch ID has been abandoned in favor of the Face ID that works with the 7MP TrueDpeth camera and the neural chip that Apple say will recognize you even if you change your appearance since it maps your face very well. Apple also says that users should have no worries of their phones being broken into by someone since there is a ‘one in a million’ chance that your phone gets unlocked. The Touch ID was very secure and users can expect much of the great Apple security in the all new Face ID as well. The iPhone X is also the host to the dual vertical cameras that were leaked before the launch. The new vertical camera will support better use of augmented reality technology. Optical image stabilization and an all new lighting mode for selfies was introduced. There are also ‘Animojis’ or animated emojis which are mapped to a user’s face and are animated according to their facial expressions. The iPhone X will be available in Space Grey and Silver. XNSPY will work with iPhone 8, 8+ and iPhone X, so users need

What Should Parents Do About the Disturbing ‘Blue Whale Challenge’ Trend?—Part 2

You’ve probably heard of this ‘Blue Whale Challenge’ through Facebook or other social media or you’ve probably seen a picture or two of bloody whale cut into someone’s arm. We wrote a post about it earlier this week. The Blue Whale Challenge is an online ‘game’ that seems to exist in several different countries most notably in India. The Blue Whale Challenge originates from Russia in 2013 as a group called ‘F57’, which was a name given to this death group from the social media website VKontakte. The game allegedly follows a series of 50 steps that build on top of one another, where the ones taking part in the challenge have to perform a series of tasks that includes harming themselves in gruesome ways, staying up late and watching psychedelic videos, speaking to other members who are doing the task as well and then eventually, taking you own life. The first reported suicide related to the Blue Whale Challenge was in 2015. Phillip Budeikin, creator of the challenge and former psychology student claims to have invented the challenge as a means of ‘cleansing’ the society by leading anyone who has ‘no value’ to it by suicide. In Russia in 2016, a moral panic was caused after a number of suicides were linked to the Blue Whale Challenge. Budeikin was arrested and pled guilty to ‘inciting at least 16 teenage girls to commit suicide’. Russia went on to work on suicide prevention legislation. Actionable Steps for Parents to Take The Blue Whale challenge, the curators of it and anyone involved will target anyone who is susceptible to online trends, or anyone suffering from depression or angst. There isn’t any confirmation that the curators of the Blue Whale Challenge force anyone to take part, any participants allegedly does it on their own free will, and that itself is the scary part. We need to ask why our children are so easily susceptible to self-harm or even willing to take their own life and we need to take their matters and mental health a bit more seriously. Teens who will actively take part in harming themselves suffer from all forms of mental health, and if ignored, there might be a lot to pay for. What do you do? How do you even know if your child is involved in this? Well the nature of the challenge makes it a little easier to know what it going on. The challenge starts off by telling the participant to carve ‘f57’ on their hands with a razor. It tells them to cut themselves along the veins on their arms. The figure ‘f40’ is told to be cut on their arms and then to carve out the shape of a blue whale on their arm. Look out for any sign that might indicate self-harm. Cuts, bruises, unidentifiable marks. Check their hands and legs for any sign of marks. Check if they’re staying up late or up at 4:20am, which is a time mentioned on the ‘to do list’. Don’t Let it Even Reach Self Harm It would be terrible to find out the state of your child through the marks of self-harm, they should have never thought that they should have ever come to a point to do this, and as a parent, one should always be vigilant to the behaviors of your child. So keep an eye out even before it reaches that stage. Monitor their social media and phone contacts, who they’re talking to or who they’re listening to. Look at the type of movies they’re watching and what they take away from such movies. But as with any teen, they’ll tend to want to do things privately What do you do when you child keeps you out of their life? What if they don’t ever talk to you? That is when you take initiative. Your child’s security and life is one the line. So dancing around the subject, half trying to talk to them will be trying to talk to a brick wall. (https://icnaconvention.org) Get a Cellphone Tracker A cellphone tracker is a good solution to any teen who’s very private about what they do. Anyone taking part in the Blue Whale Challenge, or even intending to, can be caught. A Cellphone tracking app such as XNSPY will let you in on a target device’s WhatsApp conversations, on their Facebook Messenger conversation, Snapchat, Instagram, Kik, all the fronts where the curators of the Blue Whale Challenge might be available for contact by anyone who’s looking to take part. Besides all the usual social media, XNSPY covers traditional messaging and calls, since the ‘to do list’ has options where you can message the curators or other members. A unique feature of XNSPY is having a real time location tracker that will keep you updated on the current location of your child’s phone and obviously them. They’ll be sure to have their device nearby them since the curators demands proof of any action of the to-do list. By having a way to look into your child’s phone and the trends they follow, you’ll be able to predict whether they’re going down the same rabbit hole. You’ll be able to intervene if it seems like they’re going to follow in the steps of the Blue Whale Challenge or any manner where they might harm themselves. You need to have a sixth sense about these sort of behaviors and fortunately you have XNSPY as this sixth sense. Blue Whale Challenge Conclusion The Blue Whale Challenge is a truly different and terrifying trend on the Internet that encourages self-harm and eventually suicide. Any teen suffering from depression and other severe mental health problems, who already have suicidal tendencies, will look to it as a ‘fun’ way or as an activity to do the thing they might have already intended to do. As a parent, your child’s safety is your responsibility and any means necessary should be used to keep them safe. If you yourself are feeling suicidal

Massive Breakthrough for Online Privacy in Europe: EU Regulation to Protect Personal Data

The 25th of May 2018 may just seem like any ordinary day but for the EU and Europe as a whole, it is quite significant as the general data protection regulation (GDPR) will come into force. This date is sure keeping up some corporate executives up at night and for those sleeping soundly, they might have already had preparations in store for the big day. This European Union decision out of Brussels is no ordinary directive, where individual countries may decide how its requirements are managed into their own laws. The general data protection regulation is a regulation, meaning that it will become law in all countries simultaneously. This is why corporate executives are up at night. The Purpose of the General Data Protection Regulation The purpose of this law is to strengthen and rationalize data security for every single person residing in the EU. This also covers the transfer of data outside the EU from within itself. The regulations seeks to give back the control and authority of personal data to the individuals who own it and to make it easier for the regulatory environment for international business by bringing it together under an umbrella. Companies will not have to deal with different laws in different countries to continue business, under one law, they will be able to conduct operations much smoother and effectively. Why Was it Needed? The law comes as a response to the use, abuse and disregard for the individual’s personal data when company after company misused client’s personal data. This malpractice had become the very core of some businesses and companies. The GDPR is a safety jacket to all Europe citizens as all foreign companies will have to process through this law, or at least any company that deals with handling personal user data. Even if the company does not operate from within the EU, if it processes EU data, it will be bound to the law and will be held accountable if it crosses any boundaries the law has set. The penalties for crossing any boundary are severe, even by internet standards: fines can range to €20m and or a 4% of global turnover. (Diazepam) The GDPR applies to both the people who control the data and those who handle it. The controllers who are in charge of how and why data is processed will be under the same obligations as those broadly imposed by the current data protection law. The handlers or processors of the data will be under more scrutinized law as specific legal obligations will require you to maintain records of personal data and the responsibilities that fall under a data processor will have more legal liability if you are responsible for a data breach. Any breach, no matter what size, will have to be reported within 72 hours. Protecting The People’s Right The GDPR also goes on to build on the concept of what a user’s personal data really is. For example the regulation stipulates that an online identifier such as the IP address of a device is now considered personal data. Next year wide range of identifiers did not align within the law will be regarded as personal data and how companies collect data from users. European citizens now enjoy new rights over their personal data as now they have the right to contest and fight a decision that might have been made about them by an algorithm that processes their data. For any use of personal use of personal data, valid consent has to be asked by the user and they have to be shown how the data will be used. (https://cozumelparks.com) For children, consent of their personal data has to be asked for by the parents or guardians and the collectors of personal data have to prove that they have taken valid consent. Citizens of the EU can also ask for the deletion of the personal data related to them and companies will have to first remove the data and prove that the data has been properly removed. Who’s Exempted? Who Isn’t? Companies that keep HR records, customer lists, contact lists and so on will more or less not be effected by the GDPR except for companies that might need more than what is usually required. But companies that have previously operated without the supervision of some data protection law will such as hidden multitudes of data miners, trackers, data auctioneers and ad targets that function under the guise of websites, social media and even Google will have to face severe consequences. Facebook and Google would probably be okay with the GDPR as they claim to have the consent of their users. But the crowd that will truly be under observation will be the data broking crowd that do not have consent. Targeting and tracking companies will need to ask for consent somehow. Anything that tracks the user on the internet without declaring itself will not have to show itself, declare itself and seek permission from the user for its consent. This changes everything as the very ecosystem of the internet will be in question. Does The GDPR Cover the United Kingdom? Citizens in the United Kingdom too, will be covered by the GDPR, despite Brexit. The UK government has been keen to stress that it is looking to secure the unhindered flow of data between the UK and the European Union. Companies will no longer misuse a user’s personal data by presenting them a couple of default tick boxes. Personal data can now be protected personally too as plans to give people the right to delete their post from childhood on social media were brought up by Theresa May in her election campaign and since then measures have toughened and the legislation will now give people the power to have all their personal data deleted and companies will have to comply. These measures only increase the security and confidence a user has when dealing with a company, as now they don’t have any records against
